austin, day 2

our first full day in austin, started with a super delicious brunch at torchy's tacos. the tacos were crazy good and they had boylan's root beer on tap. plus, dublin dr. pepper, which is made with pure cane sugar. mmm. just writing a couple of sentences about this place is making my mouth water.

after brunch, we headed over to auditorium shores and waited at the stevie ray vaughan statue to meet up with some friends who just moved down to austin from chicago.

while we were there, summer ran in to a dog that she big sistered at austin pets alive. it was her very first little sister and she was so happy to see vixen doing so well!

after ogling all of the sweet doggies, we walked over to the ginger man and had a few beers &/or ciders. we got there just as they opened, so we pretty much had the back patio to ourselves. it was nice and chill and our friend's dog, winston, was even allowed in.

 (isn't he the cutest??)

after some refreshments, i needed to get over to zilker park botanical gardens to do a couple of portrait shoots for my autoimmune portrait project. the general consensus was that it was totally walkable. true, it was only about two miles, but it seemed to take *forever*! we made it though, and summer & i headed in.

 (sights along barton springs road)

it seemed that spring had already sprung in austin, but we did manage to find a bit of color in between portraits.

after all that walking, we made a pit stop for ice cream and then headed back to cole & summer's house to rest a bit.

(the ice cream scoop guy had AMAZING marvel comics tattoos)

sunday evening, we headed out to the salt lick. brisket, sausage and turkey. oh, my. and peach cobbler for dessert? yes, please.

all in all, it was a great first day in austin!!
