my husband and daughter brought a gingerbread house* kit home from the grocery store a few days ago and we had a lot of fun putting it together!
* buy this in your local grocery store vs. online; you don't want a package of broken gingerbread!
it's not perfect by any means, but it was a fun activity to get us all in a christmassy mood.
have you ever made a gingerbread house? did you actually eat any of it? let me know in the comments!
i was up near the american musuem of natural history today and decided to pop in to see the origami tree. it was so wonderful! i highly recommend a stop if you are on the upper west side. just watch out for all of the school field trips!
*pro tip: the AMNH has a suggested donation, but you can pay what you wish. especially handy if you just want to run in for a few minutes!
little girls are the most fun to shop for, don't you think? it just makes sense that my first gift guide of the season is geared toward those little cuties.
happy shopping! xo

it's funny how christmas morning changes for you once you have kids of your own. i still love giving and receiving gifts with my friends and family, but this year, i was so much more focused on this little cutie. it is such a joy to see her enjoy herself and experience this magical holiday.
i managed to make my way over to rockefeller center the other night to see the tree. it's always a little too crowded, but it's also too pretty to pass up.
i love christmas time in the city. so very, very much.
on december 8th, i got a heads up that the white house was launching a pinterest account and that they were inviting a few pinners to the white house for a holiday social on the 17th. i sent in my application and was luckily chosen (security clearance pending) to go! what a treat!!
we had a wonderful tour of the christmas decorations at the white house, along with some insider information. for instance, this seriously stunning column? there were four of them. and it took something like 60,000 berries to create! photos don't do them justice.
so. many. trees. it smelled absolutely AMAZING. and each one was so pretty.
OMBRE TREE. need i say more??
very "pin-worthy" terrarium ornaments -- complete with miniature bo the dog!
the official white house christmas tree. it must have been at least 20 feet tall. stunning.
our merry little crew of pinners!
huge thanks to kasie and everyone at the white house for an amazing day!!
